510,964. Lubricants. KIRKBRIDE, F. W., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 10, 1938, No. 4265. [Class 91 An extreme pressure lubricant consists of natural or synthetic lubricating oil to which a small proportion, e.g., up to 5 per cent., of a polychloro derivative of an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing five carbon atoms is added: Polychloro derivatives made as described in Specification 503,205, [Group IV], are preferred. In examples polychloropentane is added to mineral lubricating oils. Polychloropentanes with seven atoms of chlorine are preferred.
