[Class' 106 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIX] A hydrodynamic device comprises a wheel on the input shaft 1 carrying adjustable helical blades 3, a wheel on the output shaft 2 carrying adjustable helical blades 5, a casing 6, 7 and guide blades 14 fixedly or adjustably mounted in the casing; the casing diverges from the wheel 5 to the point 18 so as to substitute a diffuser, and from the point 18 to the wheel 3 converges. The liquid in the device is maintained under pressure by a supply pump 19 which also supplies liquid to seals 24, 25. For use as an absorption dynamometer, the wheel 5 is made fast to the casing which then has freedom to oscillate, being counterbalanced by springs or weights.
