509,730. Cleansing-compositions. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO., and I. G FARBENINDUSTRIE AKT.-GES. Sept. 9, 1938, No. 26406. Convention date, Sept. 10, 1937. [Class 91] Cleansing-agents consist of soaps of fatty acids produced by oxidising high molecular non-aromatic hydrocarbons or solutions of such soaps, and one or more of the following:- borax, alkali metal or ammonium pyrophosphates, secondary orthophosphates, metaphosphates, hexametaphosphates, and sesquicarbonates. Pumice, alkali silicates, carbonates, and tertiary phosphates may also be present. Fatty acids are produced by treating molten paraffin wax, or hydrocarbons obtained by the hydrogenation of carbon monoxide, with air, nitric acid or chromic acid in the presence of manganese stearate and sodium carbonate. The product is purified and saponified if desired in admixture with tallow acids. The resulting soap is mixed with (1) sodium silicate, sodium carbonate, and sodium pyrophosphate, and the mixture passed over cooled rollers to form a soap powder, (2) sodium silicate, trisodium phosphate, and sodium hexametaphosphate, (3) sodium carbonate and borax.
