508,966. Sulphur. WACKER GES. FUR ELEKTRO-CHEMISCHE INDUSTRIE GES., DR. A. Jan. 7, 1938, No. 563. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1937. [Class 90] Sulphur is recovered from used gas-purifying masses using perchlorethylene in the liquid and/or vapour form as the solvent. Preferably, the solvent is first used in vapour form, which condenses in the mass and removes both tar and sulphur, the first extracts being collected separately. The treatment is then continued with liquid solvent, giving substantially pure sulphur. The residual solvent is removed from the sulphur by means of water vapour and from the purifying mass with water vapour or hot air.
