Abstract
Vitamin B12 is purified by subjecting a mixture containing vitamin B12 and other contaminating materials to countercurrent distribution utilizing a two-phase partition solvent, and removing the fraction thereof having a vitamin B12 content enriched as compared with the vitamin B12 content of the material treated. As solvent mixture there may be used a mixture of benzyl alcohol or cresol-toluene or cresol-carbon tetrachloride and water.
