Condensing and washing process ; naphthalene , removing.-Naphthalene is separated from coal gas by treatment with a solvent at temperatures above 80‹ C., and the solvent vapours together with the naphthalene are precipitated by subsequent cooling. The gas is bubbled through naphthalene oil, tar oil, &c. at about 100‹ C., and after cooling, the condensed solvent is reused, preferably after separation of naphthalene by cooling- or distillation. Specifications 17420/09 and 296,925 are referred to.
