Abstract

508,395. Preventing dimming of windscreens; unit air-heaters. BAITA, P. Feb. 1, 1938, Nos. 3105, 3106, and 3107. Convention dates, Feb. 1, 1937, July 29, 1937, and Dec. 31, 1937. (Classes 20 (iii) and 137] Heated air is delivered between the panels of a double windscreen 5, in order to prevent dimming thereof, from a chamber 6 surrounding the engine exhaust-pipe 4, to which air is conducted by a pipe 7 having a funnel-shaped mouth 71 opening towards the engine fan 3, and from which it is led by a pipe 8 terminating in a flat triangular-shaped nozzle, or nozzles 9, each having a long, narrow, slot opening into the space between the windscreen panels. Adjustable apertures may be provided in the windscreen to regulate the circulation of air, and control valves'may also be fitted in the airconducting. pipes 7, 8. The funnel-shaped inlet 71 may be provided with a filter. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 describes apparatus, Fig. 3 (Cancelled), for preventing the dimming of shop windows and the like, or for heating rooms, in which air heated by an electrical resistance 12 is delivered to a triangular-shaped nozzle 9 by means of a fan 15. Alternatively, the air may be heated by steam or hot-water pipes. It is also stated that such apparatus may be used to prevent the formation of ice on aircraft. This subjectmatter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
