[Class 78 (i)] [Also in Group VI] A uniform delivery of tobacco at the discharge end of a jigging conveyer 9, necessary particularly for cigar-making, is obtained by feeding the tobacco uninterruptedly to the feed end of the conveyer in a quantity slightly in excess of the delivery capacity of the conveyer. The excess accumulates at the feed end until it slides over a bevelled wall 14 into a container 15 from which it is returned to the conveyer 1 which feeds the jigging conveyer. The endless belt conveyer I is driven through ratchet gearing in timed relation to the movement of the jigging conveyer. Rotary rakes 10, 12 regulate the passage of the tobacco.
