Abstract
506,714. Controlling aircraft. ARADO FLUGZEUGWERKE GES. Dec. 7, 1938, No. 35652. Convention date, Jan. 25. [Class 4] A flap 2 on an aircraft, adapted to be swung rearwardly and downwardly from the main wing, is connected to the ends of two levers 3, 4 connected by a pivot 15<1> at the central parts. The lever 3 is guided by rollers in rails 5 at its centre and is connected to screw-and-nut operating-gear 11, 12 at its forward end. The lever 4 is guided at the forward end by rollers in rails 7 and at its rear end is pivoted to a rod 17 slidable in the nose of the flap. When the flap is projected by the gear 11. 12 and the lever 3, the lever 4 is also moved and in consequence of the inclination of the rails 7 the lever 4 is rocked and the flap swung downwards. The guide rails may be curved and may be movable.
