Abstract
506,658. Valve modulating circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and WASSELL, H. J. H. Dec. 1, 1937, No. 33249. [Class 40 (v)] In keying circuit arrangements for radio transmitters in which one or more of the high frequency stages is biassed to take a considerable " dead loss while some of the other stages are biassed to " cut-off " during " spaces," auxiliary valves are arranged to provide low resistance paths for the grid currents of the high frequency valves during the " mark " condition. Stages 2, 3 and 4 of a radio transmitter are biassed to " cut-off " during " spaces " by connection at 20 to the potentiometer 17 in the anode circuit of the keying valve 10 which is then conductive. Stage 5 is biassed to take a " dead-loss " by connection to point 23 on potentiometer 17. Auxiliary valves 7, 12 with their anodes connected to earth and cathodes connected to points 20, 23 have their grids connected to points 18, 22, on the potentiometer, so chosen that they are nonconducting in the " space " condition shown. During " marking " the key 15 is closed and the anode current of valve 10 is cut off by the negative bias 14 ; valves 7, 12 are then conducting, since their grids and cathodes are at approximately the same potential, and provide low resistance paths for the grid currents of stages 2, 3, 4, and 5.
