Abstract

506,299. Alloys. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and SMITHELLS, C. J. Feb. 28, 1938, No. 6262. [Class 82 (i)] Bearings are made of material produced by sintering not less than 70 per cent of tungsten powder with nickel or nickel and copper, the resulting alloy consisting of comparatively large tungsten grains cemented together by an alloy containing nickel and tungsten or nickel, copper, and tungsten as described in Specification 497,747. The nickel content is preferably not less than 3À5 per cent and the copper not less than 0À5 per cent, the alloy consisting of 91 per cent of tungsten, 6À4 per cent of nickel, and 2À6 per cent of copper described in Specification 497,747 being suitable. U.S.A. Specification 1,477,797 also is referred to.
