Abstract

505,544. Cartons for cigarettes ; match books. ALDERTON, G. K. Nov. 9, 1938, No. 32534. [Classes 18 and 94 (i)] In a combined cigarette and match package in which the inner container is made from a rectangular blank with lateral flaps B, C, one end D being slit or slotted to form match stalks E, the blank has, in addition to the usual folding lines, a line h about which it can be folded into book form when the flaps B, C have been torn off. The flap D is reinforced by an additional strip pasted on and has a striking surface F and a semicircular slit forming a tongue G under which the flap A can be tucked to hold the book closed after being shortened by tearing along the line a. Instead of completely removing the strips of material between the stalks E, they may be shortened and left attached to the flap D to act as spacers between the matches. The outer container may be a sheath or a box having a lid.
