504,652. Cigarette-making machines. RUAU, F. F., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Dec. 15, 1937, No. 34715. [Class 130] In mechanism for collecting cigarettes of the kind in which cigarettes severed from a continuous rod and spaced axially on a conveyer band are moved laterally from the band by a deflecting element, the cigarettes impinge against an abutment disposed at right-angles to the direction in which the cigarettes are moved axially, and rebound against a stop. As shown in the Figure, rotatable elements 9, 10 mounted on a spindle 11 deliver the cigarettes transversely from a conveyer belt 8 to a collector belt 13. Abutments 17, 19 against which the leading ends of alternate cigarettes impact, and stops 18, 20 against which the cigarettes rebound cause portions of tobacco projecting from the cigarettes to be moved towards the end faces of the cigarettes. The -abutment 19 and the stop 18 may be carried by a bar 16 adjustable laterally of the belt 13 or may be slidably mounted on a spindle disposed above the belt 13. To arrest any upward movement imparted to the cigarettes by the elements 9, 10 hinged guides 21 or hanging pieces of felt may be provided above the belt 13.
