Abstract

504,188. Cathode-ray tubes. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and KING, E. B. Oct. 20, 1937, Nos. 28570/37 and 9627/38. [Class 39 (i)] The mosaic electrode is formed by depositing on to a mica &c. base silver from its vapour in the presence of sulphur vapour; the silver deposits as discrete particles. In modifications : (i) a layer of silver is deposited in vacuo on an insulated base and then heated in the presence of sulphur vapour to form discrete particles-; (ii) a thin film of sulphur is formed on the base and silver is deposited thereon by evaporation. Mosaics formed by these methods may have a reddish brown or black film on their surfaces ; this film may be removed by an electric discharge in a hydrogen atmosphere. The silver particles are subsequently photo-sensitized.
