[Class 40 (iii)] A light cell in which alterations in the optical properties of a medium, through which a beam of light is passed, are produced by variations in electrostatic stress between electrodes has one or more electrodes of a transparent conducting material. The electrode may take the form of a thin deposit of metal on a transparent insulating support or of a plate of metal sufficiently thin to be transparent.
