[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 21, 1938.] [Class 26] [Also in Groups X and V] The walls of a swimming-bath are first coated with a layer containing bitumen, and then with a wear-resisting layer comprising about 5 parts of a filling-material, such as cork, which does not absorb water and preferably is light in weight, one part of sand, two parts of cement, two parts of a bitumen-water dispersion containing some filling-material, and two parts of water. The initial layer may be applied in two layers, the second of which is less dilute than the first and is applied after the first is partly dried. To facilitate the connection of a rubber covering to the wear-resisting layer, about one part of the bitumen-water dispersion in the latter layer is replaced by about one part of rubber latex ; in this case, the wear-resisting layer is prepared by first mixing the rubber latex with water, and thereafter adding in succession the bitumen-water dispersion with its filling-material, the cement-sand mixture, and the cork or like filling-material. The cement of the wear-resisting layer may be of quick-drying type.
