Abstract
Roads are coated by admixing differently graded bituminated pebble with sand, cement and water, to form a grout, spreading on the road, ramming until a muddy liquor is expressed and allowing the cement to set. The bitumen can be applied hot to the pebble or cold, as an emulsion, whilst tar can be used instead of bitumen.
