Abstract

Emulsions of coal tar and/or coal tar pitch are formed by fluxing with soft stearine pitch and emulsifying into alkaline casein solution containing bentonite.ALSO:Bituminous compositions consist of a mixture of aggregate, hydraulic cement and an emulsion of coal tar or coal tar pitch or a mixture thereof, which has been formed by fluxing with soft stearine pitch and emulsifying into alkaline casein solution containing bentonite. An emulsion of polyvinyl acetate may also be present. Preferred proportions are given.
