[Classes 87 (i) and 107] A paving element comprises an upper part of metallic material and a lower part of non-metallic and less refractory material, such as bituminous mortar. In laying the elements, a solvent or heat is applied to the paving element or the substructure of the road before the elements are placed in position, or the elements are placed in position and then heated. The elements may be of the shape shown with ribs 3. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a paving element of which the upper part is cement, brick, or igneous material. The upper and lower parts may be united after laying, or the upper parts may be laid on a bed of bituminous material. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
