503,646. Making articles by electro-deposition of metal. KOLLSMAN, P. Jan. 10, 1938, No. 741. Convention date, Feb. 9, 1937. [Class 41] [Also in Groups XXIX, XI, and XXII] A Pitot tube is made by arranging the internal and outleading elements in a mould in the relative positions which they are to occupy in the finished structure and casting a core of fusible material around them, and then electrolytically depositing on the core a metal of a higher melting point to form the external shell or body, after which the core is melted out by heat. The core may consist of a readily-fusible metal, such as Wood's metal or a leadbismuth or other alloy, or of a non- metallic substance such as wax, the surface of which is rendered conductive by a coating of graphite. In the form shown, a dynamic duct 1, a heater 3 enclosed in a metallic capsule 3<SP>1</SP>, leads 4, 5 with metallic casings 3<SP>11</SP>, a partition member 6, a bleeder duct 7, and a mount 60 are enclosed in a mould 11 having the internal form of the body or shell 8, in which the fusible material is cast round them. After the shell 8 has been deposited on the core so formed, static parts 63, 64 and vents 61, 62 are made in it, allowing the core when melted to be expelled by forcing in air or gas, after which the vents 61, 62 may be closed.
