Abstract

330,018. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). March 11, 1929. Moulds; mould materials.-Moulds and cores, or parts thereof, are made from porous metal preferably by moulding metal powder under pressure or while heated or both. The powder, free from sulphur, phosphorus, silicon, &c., may be obtained by decomposing metal carbonyls. The chilling effect and porosity may be varied by varying the compression and may differ in different parts of the same mould. The moulds may be used for casting superheated copper or silver, and may be washed or dusted with a bicarbonate, oxalate, borate, &c.
