Abstract
503,167. Monochromators. SEABROOK, H. (Halle Nachfolger Optische Werkstõtten, B.) June 30, 1938, No. 19474. [Class 97 (i)] In a double monochromator a prism P<1> is used in conjunction with either of two prisms P<2> or P<3> so that the dispersions 'are either similarly or oppositely directed. The tables for P<2> and P<3> are geared to rotate in opposite directions through the same angle as the table for P<1>. All the rotations are produced by a handle W. Light enters the apparatus through a slit S<1> and is reflected from the plane mirror R<1> to the concave mirror H<1>, which reflects it to the prism P<1>. The mirror R<2> behind the prism returns the rays to the mirror H<1>, whence they pass through -the slot S<2> to the mirror H<2>. After passing through the prism P<2> (or P<3>) they are returned by the mirror R<3> (or R<4>) to the mirror R<5> which reflects them through the slit S<3>.
