Abstract
928,205. Stereomicroscopes. CARL ZEISSSTIFTUNG, [trading as C. ZEISS [Firm of]]. Dec. 27, 1961 [Dec. 29, 1960], No. 46195/61. Class 97 (1). In a stereomicroscope, the housing includes an objective front lens, two rhombic prisms of identical dimensions, two parallel lens combinations and means for rotatably adjusting the prisms about the optical axes of the lens combinations so that the ray emitting and admitting faces are perpendicular to the optical axes of the lens combinations and that the second reflecting face of each prism is intersected by the respective axis of rotation. In the Figure, light from the object passes through the common objective 2 of the stereomicroscope on to the prisms 7 and 8 eccentrically mounted on arms 7a and 8a and rotated by knobs 7c and 8c via level wheels 7b and 8b to provide a variable stereo base. From the two prisms, the light passes through two telescopes 3 and 3<SP>1</SP> rotatably adjustable through 180 degrees about axis 6a, objective lens 4 and 4<SP>1</SP> and is reflected twice via mirrors 4a, 4b and 4a<SP>1</SP> and 4b<SP>1</SP> to the eyepieces 5 and 5<SP>1</SP>.
