408,811. Prisms for spectroscopes. ZEISS, C., [firm of], Carl-Zeiss-Strasse, Jena, Germany. April 26, 1933, No. 12123. Convention date, April 30, 1932. [Class 97 (i).] In a double prism for a spectroscope, the two prisms are so disposed that the sine of the angle B is approximately equal to the sine of the angle A multiplied by the refractive index of the first prism 1. With this arrangement a ray incident at right angles on the first prism is also incident approximately at right angles on the second prism and an increase in the dispersion produced by the system is obtained.
