Abstract
503,106. Discharge apparatus. FARNSWORTH TELEVISION, Inc. Oct. 29, 1937, No. 29687. Convention date, Oct. 31, 1936. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] An accelerating electrode for a cathode-ray tube or the foundation for a photo-electric cathode is made from an open-meshed looped or knitted fabric of the kind described in Specification 467,366. In the case of an accelerating electrode, the fabric is of a refractory metal wire such as molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten or nickel of very fine gauge, though metals of lower melting points may be used where the accelerating electrode is not subject to heavy electron bombardment. For the foundation of a photo-electric cathode, the fabric is made of silver wire oxidized and sensitized with caesium in the usual way. The wire fabric is mounted on a metal frame and may have an aperture to wire size ratio of between 5 and 100 to 1.
