503,060. Woven fabrics. BRITISH CELANESE, Ltd. July 19, 1938, No. 21445. Convention date, July 24, 1937. [Class 142 (iv)] [Also in Group IV] Crape effects are produced on fabrics containing threads of organic derivatives of cellulose by entering the uncraped fabric into a bath below the commercial craping temperature and heating the bath nearly up to its boiling point until a crape fabric is produced. The threads may be woven alternately with other threads e.g. of silk or cotton ; large pebble effects may be produced by alternating three or more picks of R.H. twist threads with one of L.H. twist ; fine pebble effects may be produced by laying either in the warp or weft or both one thread of R.H. twist and one of L.H. twist alternately. Crape satin may be produced by arranging floats of non-craping threads on one side of the fabric and interwoven crape threads on the other side.
