Abstract

Flat, non-curling stiffened fabrics are produced by interspersing right- and left-hand twisted yarns in the warp or weft or both of the fabric, then subjecting to a transparency or other finishing process having a stiffening effect. Such processes include all conventional methods of transparentizing and parchmentizing by means of acids, lyes and other swelling agents.
