Abstract

499,474. Oil coolers for internalcombustion engines. PORSCHE, F. Aug. 26, 1938, No. 25086. Convention'date, Oct. 6, 1937. [Class 12 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVII] In an internal-combustion engine the air current for cooling the engine is divided by guide surfaces 9, 10, 11 into several part currents 12, 13, 14, one of which flows also through the oil cooler 15. As shown, the current 12 flowing through the cooler 15 is divided by a guide 20 so that one part 21 flows over the cylinder part 3 and the remainder 22 together with the current 13 flows over the cylinder head 5. The current 14 passes over the parts 4, 6, of another cylinder. The current-producing fan 7, the cooler 15, and guide surfaces have a cover 27. The cooler 15 is mounted directly on the engine casing 1 and the end faces 18, 19, of the cooler are shaped to ensure an unimpeded flow of air. The number of coolers and air fans may be multiplied.
