Abstract
498,660. Ball mills. DIETZE, R. June 10, 1938, No. 17261. Convention date, June 22, 1937. [Class 59] A method of grinding in a mill consisting of a stationary ring with rotating parts forming a closure at the two end surfaces is characterized by the feature that the mill charge in the end casing parts is carried up during the rotation and is thrown out of the plane of rotation onto the stationary ring, from which it passes into the opposite rotating casing part. As shown, the ends of a stationary drum a are closed by end casing parts b, c, rotatable at different speeds or in opposite directions. The drum a is provided with an inclined partition l which directs heating medium from an inlet i through the material in the mill before passing to an outlet k. The material to be ground is fed in through inlet m and the finely ground material is discharged with the heating gases through outlet k. The rims g, h of the caps may be flared to facilitate the passage of the grinding balls from one cap to the other, the trajectory of a ball forming a triple loop.
