Abstract

498,652. Drying threads. SEIDENWERK SPINNHUTTE AKT.-GES. March 28, 1938, No. 9405. Convention date, April 16, 1937. [Class 34 (i)] In a drying conduit 1 closed over its entire periphery for drying threads and interposed between the spinning frames and winding compartment, hot air passing from inlet 21 to outlet 2 in countercurrent to the thread, a conveyer band 6 traverses the conduit for drawing the thread therethrough when broken, the thread falling on the band and being gripped by blade springs 7 secured to the conveyer. Notches for accommodating the band terminate narrow slots 10 in the end caps 3 through which the thread passes. The driving pulley 8 of the conveyer is manually rotated when a thread is broken, the blade springs 7 on running on to the pulleys being bent back and on leaving the pulleys springing forwards and gripping the broken thread to the band during its traverse through the conduit by the continued rotation of the driving pulley. The bushed end caps 3 are closed by slotted agate discs. In an installation comprising a number of the drying conduits alongside one another, the conveyer bands of the conduits are provided with colour markings, alterations in the relative positions of which indicate to the attendant the services to be effected for the individual conduits. Specification 457,249, is referred to.
