Abstract
788,242. Making cords. BRIGHT & BROS., Ltd., J. Sept. 19, 1955 '[July 13, 1955], No. 20218/55. Class 109 [Also in Group IX] Cords are manufactured by mechanism provided with supply bobbins for threads, from which at least two threads are twisted and passed between rollers, the twisted threads being again passed between the same set of rollers to combine them prior to twisting into a cord, the direction of twist in the cord being the reverse of that in the threads. As shown, threads 10, 11 are drawn off supply bobbins 5 through flyers 12, 13, over pulleys 14, 15, passed around a pulley 17, through guide eyes 18, under a driven roller 8, ever an idle roller 9 resting on the roller 8, and under a second roller 8. The threads then pass once more over the pulley 17 and through the eyes 18, around the roller 8, 9, 8 as before, the threads on this second passage round the rollers being brought together, to be united and twisted by the ring and traveller on the take-up bobbin. In a second embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown) the supply bobbins are below the rollers and the take-up bobbin above, the passages through the rollers being reversed.
