Abstract

The pour point of fuel oils comprising residual oil containing asphalt and wax is stabilized by adding 0,01-0,5 per cent of an amine or mixture of amines. Amines used include aniline, toluidine, xylidine, benzidine, a and b -naphthylamine, hexylamine, polyamines, and hydroxy and alkyl derivatives, e.g. alkylol amines, amino-phenols, alkylated amino-phenols, and methyl-, ethyl-, or hexylphenyl amine. For example, 0,01 per cent of a -naphthylamine, or 0,05 or 0,1 per cent of diamino-propanol is added to fuel oil.
