547,242. Bituminous emulsions. STANDARD OIL DEVELOPMENT CO. March 31, 1941, No. 4284. Convention date, March 29, 1940. [Class 1 (i)] Aqueous emulsions of bitumen which form dry films more resistant to water when applied to an aggregate contain compounds of aluminium, tin, boron, chromium, zinc, molybdenum or vanadium, e.g. sodium aluminate, in conjunction with an aliphatic amine having more than 11 carbon atoms in a straight chain, e.g., n-heptadecylamine, or a substituted amine having at least 10 carbon atoms in a straight chain, the terminal carbon atom being attached to a carbon atom in the ring of a carbocyclic compound or a nitrogen containing heterocyclic compound.
