Abstract

An hydraulic fluid in the form of a water-in-oil emulsion contains: 35-45% by weight of water, 60-45% by weight of a mineral lubricating oil obtained from a naphthenic crude, 2-10% by weight of sorbitol mono-oleate, and 0.25-3% by weight of polyoxyethylene sorbitol monooleate, the concentration of the polyoxyethylene sorbitol mono-oleate being not greater than that of the sorbitol mono-oleate. The composition may also contain 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methyl phenol and an alkylated succinic acid.
