Abstract

A fuel composition comprises an oil-in-water emulsion of a petroleum oil having a viscosity of above 40 S.S.F. at 122 DEG F., the oil forming at least 60 to 1% and the water being sufficient to give the emulsion a viscosity of less than 150 S.S.F. at 77 DEG F. Suitable emulsifiers include sodium aryl sulphonates, oleate, stearate, the sodium salt of sulphated castor oil, and ethylene and propylene oxide condensates, e.g. polyoxyethylene sorbitan trioleate.
