Abstract

In obtaining oil by warming finely disintegrated blubber to below 60 DEG C. by indirect heating without substantial evaporation of water and then pressing, the whole or part of the heat is supplied while the blubber is in the press or an antechamber thereof, the separate heating container with stirring apparatus referred to in either of the parent Specifications being dispensed with. If only part of the heat is supplied at the press the remainder may be furnished by heating elements disposed in or around the pipes or containers through which the blubber passes, or before or during the mincing.
