Abstract
495,406. Cathode-ray tubes. FERNSEH AKT.-GES. May 13, 1937, No. 13557. Convention date, May 12, 1936. [Class 39 (i)] A mosaic screen of the type in which the conducting elements pass through the screen and are exposed on each side of it and are adjacent to a common electrode consists of a number of pieces of insulated wire secured by adhesive to a conducting strip, a number of such strips being built up into a screen or a single strip being wound spirally or bent zigzag to form the screen. The strips may be of aluminium insulated by oxidation and the mosaic elements of silver secured to the strips by silver iodide or waterglass containing calcium carbonate. The strips 1 may be flat and built up with the elements 2 between them as shown in Fig. 11 or they may be corrugated with the elements in the grooves as shown in Fig. 2. The strips may also form concentric rings. The elements may be formed of wire which is woven with insulated wire into a warp- and-weft fabric which is cut into strips. A number of strips 1 may be arranged on a mandrel as shown in Fig. 7 and the wire 2 forming the elements wound on them ; the strips are then cut apart. The ends of the elements then project from the faces of the plate and may be ground flat or concave after assembly.
