Abstract
495,064. Rotary compressors. CLAYTON, C. E. EVERY-. (Michelmotor-Ges.) May 7, 1937, No. 13143. [Class 110 (ii)] The compressor comprises a disc 1 mounted on and rotating with a hub 2 on a shaft 3, and two rotating conical walls 7, each having an integral half-blade 5. The blades abut on the centre line C. Bolts 20 pass through the walls 7 and the centre of each blade 5. A shaft 6 drives the walls 7, which are mounted on ball bearings. The edge of the disc 1 engages in a groove 14. Inlet and discharge ports are provided on the casing parts 10, 11. The blades are mounted in semicircular, rotatable rods 21 in the walls of the disc. At the inner and outer ends of these rods connecting bridge-pieces 23 are fixed. To counteract the effect of centrifugal force on the rods, strips 32 are secured to the disc 1. A bronze strip 27 is inserted between the strip 32 and the rod. The disc is made of light metal. The disc 1 may be the driving member, instead of the walls 7.
