Abstract
493,892. Electric induction furnaces. HORSBURGH, G. D. L., TETLEY, F. W., and SWIFT, LEVICK, & SONS, Ltd. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23160. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (iii)] A protective circuit which will be closed by molten metal if a fracture occurs in the crucible is arranged between the inductor coil or a screen arranged between the coil and the charge, and a terminal of a metallic order of electrical conductivity separated from the charge by a layer of refractory material which will become electrically conductive when hot. This terminal may be connected to earth. The protective circuit includes electrical responsive means adapted to close a circuit including a lamp and a main circuit breaker. U.S.A. Specification 1,922,029 is referred to. British Specifications 342,699 and 343,601 also are referred to.
