Abstract
493,756. Winding yarns. SCHUBERT & SALZER MASCHINENFABRIK AKT.-GES. May 11, 1938, No. 14090. Convention date, June 30, 1937. [Class 120 (ii)] In cross-winding machines, wherein the yarn guide controls the drive of the spindle as it pivots with the increasing diameter of the cheese so as to maintain a constant linear speed of winding, the ratio of transmission between the spindle and traverse drive remaining constant, the movement of the friction wheel 5 of the variable friction spindle drive 4, 5 is governed by a control ring 43, the movement of which along a screwed shaft 42, whereby it operates the wheel 5 through forks 51, 56, is controlled by a stop 59 moved by the yarnguide frame 22. The traverse cam shaft is driven from the spindle shaft by gears 13, 12, and drives the shaft 42 very slowly through worm gearing 33, 34, 37, 41. The shaft 42 has a screw-thread of sawtooth profile, and the control ring 43 carries threaded jaws gripped by a band 48 so as normally to rotate with the shaft 42 without translation. The control ring also carries a stop 49 engaged by the stop 59 on a slide 30, which is moved by the yarn-guide frame through levers 23, 26, so as to arrest the rotation of the control ring 43, with consequent translation, and thereby to move the wheel 5 across the face of the disc 4. The parts may be returned to the initial position by pressing the frame 22, a stop 60 on the slide 30 engaging the fork 51 and the control ring slipping along the shaft by the radial displacement of the jaws over the saw-teeth.
