Abstract

493,678. Knitting - machines. CHEMNITZER STRICKMASCHINEN FABRIK AKT.-GES. Jan. 12, 1938, No. 1029. Convention date, Jan. 13, 1937. [Class 74 (ii)] A circular knitting- machine in which the needles or drivers therefor are selected, e.g. by a pattern band, for engagement with the working cams is characterized by selecting means, supplementary to the pattern band &c., which effect simultaneous vertical and radial movements of the selected needle or driver to cause the latter to engage the working cam. Drivers 3 are initially selected by a perforated band 5 ; unselected drivers, i.e. those pushed back by the band on to their bed la, are then selected by cams 11, 12 which act respectively upon the bases B and heels 3<1> of the drivers. When drivers are raised by engagement with cam 11 or 12, sloping surfaces 3<11> on the bases engage the edge of the bed la so that the drivers also move outwards and portions 3a<1> engage cam surface 61 and the drivers are raised and push their needles, e.g. to the loop-transferring position. Drivers only partly raised (when the cams 11, 12 are being brought in) are returned to their bed by a cam 63. A further selection is afforded by the fact that some of the bases are recessed at 3<111> and thus miss the cam 11. The cam 12 acts on all drivers. The invention may be applied to the cylinder or dial or both.
