[Class 112] A double-thread blind-stitching machine is provided with a thread - spreading device which is so mounted and constructed as to be wholly or partly removable to allow dif ferent kinds of seams to be formed. In the form shown, the spreading device a has thread - engaging limbs a<1> and is mounted on the machine head by a spigot held in a socket by a set-screw g ; the device is actuated by a pin f engaging a socket in an arm on a rock-shaft and held therein by a set-screw e. By slackening the set-screws, e, g, the complete 'device can be withdrawn to the left. Instead of the complete device being removable, the threadengaging members a<1> may be attached to carrying members by nuts or other means allowing each detachment. For use with an interval machine, the needle plate c is replaced by one having an extension supporting the upper piece of the material being sewn.
