492,175. Screw propellers. ROTH, L., and GOLDE, H. March 15, 1937, No. 7511. [Class 114] [Also in Group XXIII] A laminated blade for screw propellers is constructed from laminae a having on one or both sides of them veneer sheets b, the grain of the laminae a running longitudinally of the blade and the grain of the veneer sheets transversely. The ratio of the thickness of the laminae to the sheets is as 8 to 1. It is stated that the outer and inner layers a may be of hard wood, whilst the other layers may be of softer wood. The edge of the blade may be protected by the device described in Specification 492,273.
