492,081. Gas turbines. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO. Dec. 13, 1937, No. 34513. Convention date, Dec. 15, 1936. [Class 110 (iii)] The working medium in the high-pressure stage of a gas turbine contains an excess of air and the medium is re-heated between stages by burning fresh fuel-gas with the excess air. In the example shown, a fuel-gas generator 19 is supplied with air compressed in a pump 4, pre-heated in a regenerator 17 and controlled in accordance with the load by a valve 23. Fuel-gas and compressed air are led to a combustion chamber 12 which supplies the working medium to a high-pressure stage turbine 1. The exhaust from turbine 1 passes through are-heater 15 to the stage turbine 2 and fuel-gas admitted by a pipe 26 is burned in the re-heater. The fuel-gas is controlled by a valve 28, the position of which is determined by a thermostat 29 responsive to the temperature of the turbine exhaust. The supply of compressed air to the gas generator may be regulated by varying the munber of stages of the air pump with or without an additional control responsive to the load, or the supply may be regulated by blowing-off air in excess. The two turbine stages may be coupled together as shown at 10 or may operate independently.
