Abstract

491,964. Overhead electric lamps. CAMPBELL, G., and BENJAMIN ELECTRIC, Ltd. Feb. 11, 1937, No. 4067. [Class 75 (ii)] In an overhead electric lamp having the usual dispersive reflector 2 and intended particularly for lighting industrial buildings, an auxiliary reflector, in the form of a mirror 4 is disposed within the reflector 2 and is adjustably mounted on the skirt thereof so that, when desired, a beam of greater intensity may be directed on to any particular object such as a work table or an inspection bench. In the form shown, the mirror 4 is secured to an arm 12 pivoted at its upper end to one arm 5 of a two-armed bracket 5, 6, the latter being clamped by a member 9 and screw 10 to the reflector 2 in any desired position around the periphery thereof. The lower end of the arm 12 is forked to engage over the arm 6 on which it is held to give the mirror 4 any desired inclination by a screw 14. The mirror 4 may be replaced by a glass prism or prismatic plate,
