Abstract
491,674. Vehicle couplings. MANVERS MAIN COLLIERIES, Ltd., ILLINGWORTH, C., and HART, T. May 8, 1937, No. 13200. [Class 103 (v)] [Also in Group XXV] A clevis for rope haulage comprises a body member 5 having at one end a swivelling eye 6 for attachment to the tub coupling and at the other end a pivoted hook 8 receiving the shackle of the haulage rope, the hook 8 being normally retained in the service position by its reduced end 8a fitting in a bifurcated lever 10 'pivoted to the body member and being locked against displacement by a pin 13. The pin 13 has a part 13a of D-shaped section of slightly less width than the gap between the bifurcated ends 10a of the lever 10 so that, when released, the pin is turned by the weight of its head 13b into a position preventing inadvertent removal.
