490,026. Locking-nuts. GUIDUCCI, I. Feb. 8, 1937, No. 3744. Convention date, Feb. 6, 1936. Addition to 447,240. [Class 89 (i)] In a composite locking washer as described in the parent Specification and comprising a pair of identical washers 1 having projections 2 on their outer surfaces for gripping the nut and work, each washer being formed around its periphery with spring tongues 3 projecting beyond the plane of the washer so that when the two washers are placed together and the nut tightened thereon, the tongues of one washer engage those of the other, additional locking positions are provided by forming each washer with radial fins 4 in the spaces between the tongues, so that a tongue on one washer may engage any one of the fins on the other washer. To increase further the number of locking positions, the tongues may be irregularly spaced around the periphery of the washer and the fins may be unevenly spaced between the tongues. The numbers of fins between the tongues are preferably proportional to the spacings of the tongues.
