Abstract

619,101. Locking nuts. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Nov. 20, 1946, No. 34403. Convention date, May 28, 1942. [Class 89 (i)] Resilient sheet metal nuts with embossed edges 11, separated by radial slots 7, and formed to engage the screw thread, have the ends of the slots extended by portions 9 preferably parallel to the sides of the nut. The corners of-the nut have down-turned points 17 that assist in preventing rotation of the nut and permit the body of the nut to flex during final tightening of the screw by rotation, the initial application being by axial pressure only. The nut may be hexagonal or circular and more than two slots 7 may be provided. Specification 538,503 is referred to.
