Abstract
489,559. Preventing dimming of windows and windscreens. CORNELL, JUN., E. S. Jan. 28, 1937, No. 2566. Convention date, Feb. 1, 1936. [Class 20 (iii)] Dimming of windows and windscreens by frost is prevented by an air draught delivered on to the window &c. by a fan 13 in a casing 10 which is driven preferably by a wind motor 20 carried in the casing. The air may be heated by an electric resistance 36 or otherwise and is delivered at an acute angle to the screen by a fixed orifice 18 of the casing. As illustrated the motor 20 is driven by an air stream induced by the induction manifold, a controlling valve being provided, Fig. 7, which may open one or both inlets 21<1> to give half or full speed. The casing 10 is preferably removably secured to the screen by suction devices 35, for example, and a device 27 for permanently holding the electrical and air pipe connections and an air valve 41 is clamped to the panel board. As well as the controlling valve the casing has a heater switch and an indicator light for the heating current. The casing is semi-pear-shaped and the orifice 16a widens in the plane of the screen and tapers perpendicularly thereto.
