Abstract

545,019. Windscreen or window heaters. FOSTER, C. R. Dec. 18, 1940, No. 17856. [Class 39(iii)] A heater for windscreens or windows comprises a moulded casing 1 carrying suction cups 2 for attachment to the glass. The heating wire 4 is connected between screws 5, 6 so that air entering through slots 7 is heated and then discharged between the upper edge 9 of the casing and a front plate 10. The circuit of the heater includes the plate 10 and a tumbler switch 19. An aperture 21 is provided in the casing through which the glow of the heater can be observed. When the window is composed of parallel panes, the heated air may be delivered into the enclosed space either through an opening at the bottom or an aperture in the rear pane. The heater may be mounted on brackets attached to the vehicle structure instead of by suction cups.
